My Curly Hair Routine

My hair has been through some damage over the past two years from bleaching and dying it. I wanted to share the products I use for my curly, dry, damaged hair. My hair is curly, thin, and frizzy. I try to avoid heat on it for the most part and wear it natural everyday. I wash my hair every other day or every two days depending on how my hair is feeling/looking. I wanted to share the hair products I use daily and are on a budget! You can find most of these products at Target or Ulta which is awesome.

Shampoo and Conditioner

Lately I've been loving the Carol's Daughter Almond Milk Sulfate Free Shampoo and Conditioner. This specific one is for damaged, processed hair. I've repurchased it about three times now so that says something! It leaves my hair feeling clean and nourished after washing my hair. They don't contain any sulfates which strip your hair from the natural oils and then dries it out like crazy! My hair was become more softer and healthier over time. Invest in products that will help your hair in the long run.

Other options I like: Joico K-PAK Color Therapy Shampoo and Conditioner / Joico Moisture Recovery Shampoo and Conditioner  / Kristen Ess The One Signature Shampoo and Conditioner

Deep Conditioner/Hair Mask

Deep conditioner is a must have for me! This helps to hydrate and repair your hair. It will make your hair feeling much more moisturized than regular conditioner. I deep condition my hair once to twice a week. I have tried several hair masks but I haven't found a hair mask that I really love. (If you know of any good hair masks, please comment them below!) Lately I've just been mixing coconut oil and castor oil and put it in my hair on hair washing days for about 1-2 hours. Sometimes even longer if I have the time. My hair feels so soft and moisturized afterwards.

If you have curly hair, the Miss Jessie's Super Sweetback Treatment is really good and leaves your curls looking very defined! But I'm looking for a mask that'll moisturize it more.

Because I have curly hair, I follow the LOC routine which is leave in conditioner, oil and cream for styling my hair.

Leave In Conditioner

I've been using the Shea Moisture Strengthen Grow & Restore Leave-In Conditioner. I apply a quarter size to my hair and it leaves it feeling moisturized and soft. Don't apply too much or your hair will be greasy!
Oil

I haven't found an oil that I love but I'm currently using this olive oil for hair that my mom brought back from Mexico. I use a very small amount of this on the ends or my hair will look super greasy. I usually like natural oils like argan oil, coconut oil, jojoba oil and moroccan oil.

Cream

I've tried many curly hair creams but I think I may have found the hair cream that works well for my hair! It's the Kristen Ess Curl Defining Creme. I apply a small amount to damp hair and smooth it all over from the bottom to the roots. Then I part it and begin to scrunch it up to define the curls some more. I prefer creams over mousse or gel because it doesn't leave your hair feeling crunchy.

Other options I like: Not Your Mother's Kinky Moves Curl Defining Hair Cream / Joico Curl Controlling Cream Anti Frizz Styler / Curls Unleashed Curl Boost Jelly

Dry Shampoo

On the days when my hair is starting to get a little oily, I use dry shampoo. The best ones I've tried so far are the Eva NYC Freshen Up Dry Shampoo and Pssst! Instant Dry Shampoo. Both leave my hair feeling clean and fresh. It doesn't leave that powdery white cast like other dry shampoos. They also give my hair volume which is nice. They also smell amazing! The Batiste dry shampoos are also great.

Curl Refresher

To refresh my curls on second and third day hair I like to use the Curls Lavish Curls Daily Moisturizer. It's lightweight and moisturizing to the hair. It smells nice and leaves my curls looking defined, not flat.

So that's what I use on my dry, damaged, curly hair! I try not to use too many products because it'll weigh it down. I really want to try DevaCurl products but they're so pricey! I'll probably purchase travel size products to test out in the near future. If you guys have any product recommendations for dry hair let me know!
